If he's ready
to be led
Kappa League is open to any young man in grades 6 through 12. You do not need a Kappa in the family. You do not need a certain GPA to start.
What we ask for is attendance and effort. What he gets back is a room full of men who will know his name, ask about his grades, and expect something of him.
Kappa League was founded on February 12, 1969, by the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter at Alain LeRoy Locke High School, and adopted by the Grand Chapter in 1970. It is the flagship of Guide Right, the fraternity's national service program, running since 1922.
He won't be

Leaguers come from across Shelby County and the Mid-South -- public, private, charter, and magnet. No school owns this program.

What a year
actually covers
These are not steps. Every Kappa League activity sits in one or more of the five national phases, and a Leaguer works across all of them at once.
Self Identity
Knowing who he is before the world tells him. Personal history, presentation, public speaking, how to walk into a room.
Training
The skills. Study habits, financial basics, résumé and interview work, college applications, career exposure with Memphis professionals.
Competition
Achievement measured against a standard. Oratory, academic contests, the National Kappa League Conference, chapter scholarships.
Socialization
Brotherhood and civic presence. Service projects, community events, and time with chapter brothers and city leaders.
Health Education
Physical and mental health, taught plainly. Nutrition, fitness, stress, and what to do when you are not okay.
